A drawing appropriate for our Easter celebration here. From my sister-in-law Nancy.

Saturday, March 30, 2013

Ok, I took the unusual step of deleting a post. I just wasn't happy with the one of my dad, so I'm going to work on it a little more and post soon. In the mean time, here's the new official one for today.

Friday, March 29, 2013

I saw this small shotgun house on a drive through old town.

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Another construction drawing. These roofers are pretty much fearless. Got to tell you, I recently got on twitter. I'm not too sure how it works yet, but you can sign in or sign up and search my name and click to follow. You'll get my drawings on your device quick and easy!

Monday, March 25, 2013

I'm taking a different compositional approach to this 3 part series.

Saturday, March 23, 2013

I'm back to the seashore with a drawing of a small dock. This one owes a debt to Paul Cezanne.

Friday, March 22, 2013

Here's the same pillar a few days later. A crew is topping it with a torch.

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Here's some construction going on. They're tiling the post or pillar.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Third drawing of this pose with yet another stylistic treatment. Seems like she must be a dancer.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Second day of work on this pose. I'm still trying different finishing techniques.

Monday, March 18, 2013

Back to some figure work. The model was feeling energetic on this one.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Today marks day and drawing number 265. I guess tomorrow will be the first drawing down the home stretch. I think a drawing of Motif #1 is an appropriate subject for this milestone. For those of you who don't know, Motif #1 is a fish house in the harbor at Rockport, Mass. It's probably the most painted and drawn structure in North America.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Here's the Wood Stork again, this time with some much smaller Glossy Ibises.

Friday, March 15, 2013

I can't resist keeping the tropical theme going. Being at the beach among the coconut trees is hard to beat.

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Sometimes it's nice to get away from it all, where you can just relax.

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

I didn't want to do a standard boat drawing so I used creative elements in this one.

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Here's the last of the 3 drawings from that still life. This one has taken a more creative turn.

Monday, March 11, 2013

Here's the same still life with a different stylistic treatment.

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Here's a small still life. This one owes a debt to Paul Cezanne.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

It's been a while since I've been able to post a portrait. For one reason or another, I haven't been able to get with the people on my list . But, today I'm happy to post one of my long time friend and former art school roommate, Martin Schaus. He won the big award when we graduated. Martin's an artist, a creative director of print and TV ads, and a lifelong surfer.

Friday, March 8, 2013

Found at a boat yard. I find the different shapes of boats interesting.

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Here's a water tower nearby, not one of the more common subjects. These are being phased out, replaced by, on the ground, water tanks. I thought the trappings of work being done made an interesting drawing.

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Outside a dockside restaurant. I think the wheelhouse shape of the restaurant attachment against the tourist scooters is interesting. Finished this yesterday but got side tracked and didn't post.

Cannon welcoming you to a museum.

Monday, March 4, 2013

Last of the three. The same still life with different stylistic possibilities.

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Time for a still life. After the wooden bird and the plastic horse I think I'll go back to something more conventional for this one..
