I used 5 different Pablo Picasso finishing techniques for this one.

Saturday, December 29, 2012

My wife is camera shy, so I had to figure a way to get her presence into this thing. Here's some of her things in a creative drawing.

Friday, December 28, 2012

I saw this scene in the Florida Keys. A view on the Gulf side of Sugarloaf Key.

Thursday, December 27, 2012

There's some construction going on around here. This is a cement pump.

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

If you explore the docks on Stock Island, just outside of Key West, this will be a familiar sight.

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! This is a handmade paper angel. It was made for us by my mother-in-law. We lost her and Ron 18 years ago.

Monday, December 24, 2012

I'm a little late again today. I had another drawing done but I decided to do a seasonal one instead.

Sunday, December 23, 2012

A little bit of a late start due to technical difficulties. Here's Bill working on a construction project.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Here's another wildlife drawing. Pretty straight forward rendition of some Ibises feeding.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Last go at this figure, used a Pablo Picasso technique to finish the styling.

Sunday, December 16, 2012

It's always good to see a raft of Pelicans down at the docks.

Saturday, December 15, 2012

I saw this in front of one of those small apartments near the beach.

Friday, December 14, 2012

The last of the gnarled tree. This is kind of my own thing in terms of style.

Thursday, December 13, 2012

The same gnarled tree again. A different stylistic approach.

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

I had to revisit one of the gnarled trees. It's kind of a Cezanne approach with some added embellishments.

Tuesday, December 11, 2012

I saw these birds while having an outside lunch. This is some kind of male dominance display. One bird points to the sky while the other chirps loudly six or seven times and then flaps his wings noisily. Then he takes a short break and does it all over again. It's pretty entertaining.
I was channeling one of Picasso's middle styles with this one. As before not the proportioning but the shading and finishing style.

Sunday, December 9, 2012

I recently visited Jaco Pastorius Park in Oakland Park Florida.  The image in the background is Jaco himself, it's one of two murals of him painted on a building at the park.

Saturday, December 8, 2012

Another still life with a creative bent. Maybe it isn't so still.

Friday, December 7, 2012

It's been a little while since I've done a portrait. This is another one of our daughter.

Thursday, December 6, 2012

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Last go at this figure. I had Pablo Picasso in mind on the styling. I didn't use his distortions but rather his techniques in outlining and shading from one of his middle periods.

Monday, December 3, 2012

Time for another figure drawing. Thinking a little of Cezanne on this one.

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Every artist has to depict the Bird of Paradise flower, don't they?

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Second go at this one. Trying for a different style treatment.

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

A still life of random electrical objects found in the room. I thought it would be a little different kind of drawing.

Saturday, November 24, 2012

Another drawing with a very creative approach. These are objects found and used on a buildout.

Friday, November 23, 2012

I think I'm overdue for a landscape. Here's a beautiful day in the Big Cypress.

Thursday, November 22, 2012

No, you're not seeing things. Let me explain, his is an art in public places sculpture of Humpty Dumpty. Very cool.

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

A scene from an airport. A passenger trying to use her time wisely.

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Monday, November 19, 2012

Second go at this figure with a very different style treatment.

Sunday, November 18, 2012

It's been a while since I posted some figure work. I'll start with this one, with similar styling to some I've done before.

Saturday, November 17, 2012

As you can see, I was in a very experimental mood on this one. I started with the abstract patterns and textures then incorporated a little realism after.

Thursday, November 15, 2012

A single subject still life. Some of these perfume bottles have gotten pretty elaborate.

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

My friend James Weaver. Longtime friend and lifelong bike rider.

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Final drawing of this composition. I think the three worked out well.
