The artist at work. This is Jan Kolenda putting the finishing touches on her large ceramic piece 'Imagine Florida'. It was commissioned by the Coral Springs Museum of Art and is on the grounds of the Coral Springs Center for the Arts.

Bookstore again, different style.

I've had some questions about how long these drawings take. The short answer is, it depends. Some subjects are obviously more complex than others and will therefore take longer. Each drawing goes through the same steps: sketch, composition, value study, styling and final drawing.

I will say the ones that take the most time are the portraits.There's an extra step of getting a likeness. 

So a drawing may take from an hour and a half to several hours. There's lots of work in this blog!

As promised, here's a redo of the drawing from July 30th. The first one was very straight forward and just not very interesting.

As artists we can depict the many facets of our lives. I think we can all agree this is one of them.

Couldn't move on without another of the park and Wood Storks.  This time a group scene.

The experimenting continues with this still life. A pretty bold technique, don't you think?

Back to a still life for some experiments with technique.

My sculptor friend Gregory Pastorius with one of his works. The subject is an ibis, he's titled the sculpture 'Ad Infinitum'.

Two possible titles for this one of Cobie. Either 'Is it time for a walk?' or 'You mean this was your favorite chair'.

Here's a friends old large format camera. With the small size and simple shape of todays' cameras, I had to draw this one. By the way, he still has film for it.

Here's my friend Mark Hartung, He's the most dedicated 'plein aire' (outdoor) painter I know.
